Covington - William Lester Lyons, 83 of Winter Haven, FL died at 5:20 a. m. Tuesday October 5, 2010 in Auburndale Oaks, Auburndale, FL. He was born March 20, 1927 at Perrysville the son of William Nelson and Edith (Wood) Lyons.
He was a graduate of Perrysville High School and an Army veteran of World War II. Lester was a railway postal clerk and later a clerk in the post office at Lafayette, retiring in 1983. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church, Winter Haven.
Lester married Mary Boller April 14, 1949 at Covington and she survives. Also surviving is a son Dennis (Cindy) Lyons of Georgetown, TX, a daughter Denise Lyons of Bradenton, FL, 2 brothers, Bob (Martha) Lyons of Clearwater, FL, Leland Lyons of Covington, a sister Jo Lyons of Covington, and 2 grandchildren. His parents, 4 brothers, and two sisters preceded him in death.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until the time of services at 2:00 p. m. Sunday at Shelby Funeral Home. Pastor James Chase will officiate. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
