Wayne Franklin Niccum, Sr.

Wayne Franklin Niccum, Sr., 98 of Covington died Friday January 20, 2023 at home.  He was born August 12, 1924 at Terre Haute, IN the son of Jacob and Hila (Walton) Niccum.

Wayne attended Riley Schools and lived in Vigo County until moving to Covington in 1955.  He was an Army veteran of World War II and Korea.  He was a farmer and carpenter all his life.  Wayne was a mechanic and collector of Ford tractors, having thirty lined up at home in Portland Arch.  He enjoyed gardening, eating, family gatherings, and playing the slots.  He was a member of First Church of Christ.

Wayne married Frances Betty Rae Reynolds June 6, 1943 and she died April 30, 2013.

Surviving are seven children, Wayne F. Niccum, Jr., David L (Linda) Niccum, Walter “Nody” (Bobbie) Niccum all of Covington, Jonnie (Debra) Niccum of Attica, James L. Niccum of Greer, SC, Linda ”Lindy” (Dean) Rehder of Elkhart, Jeanne (Tom) Murray of Covington.  Also surviving is a sister Ella Davis of Murray KY; twenty grandchildren, forty-five great grandchildren, and twelve great-great grandchildren.  His parents, wife, and two sisters, Martha Miller, Evelyn Smith preceded him in death.

Funeral Services 2:00 P. M. EST Monday January 23, 2023 at Shelby Funeral Home, Covington with Terry Martin officiating.  Visitation 12:00 P. M. until time of services at 2:00 P.
