Virginia Mae Payton, 88, a resident of The Waters of Covington, IN., passed away there at 1:45 p.m. on Wednesday Nov. 16, 2011.
Virginia was born on September 27, 1923 to Hancel Carl and Eveia Siberia Lemming Payton, near Veedersburg, IN. She attended Sterling Grade School and graduated from Veedersburg High School in 1941. She was a former member of New Century E. U B. Church and also had attended First Assembly of God in Covington. Previous places of employment included McDaniel Freight Lines, R M C, St. Elizabeth Hospital, and Farm Bureau Co-op. Virginia enjoyed reading, Christian radio programs, Christian music, and her family.
Survivors are two nephews and one niece. They are Darrell (Debbie) Howard of Crawfordsville, IN; Jerry (Brenda) Howard of Reynolds, IN, and Vernice (Richard) Foxworthy of Hope, IN, and several great nieces and nephews.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; one sister Elizabeth Howard Young; one nephew Dennis Howard; and one great nephew Eric Howard.
Graveside services will be held Saturday November 19, 2011 at 1:00 p. m. at Bonebrake Cemetery near Veedersburg with Pastor Robert Fairchild officiating. Memorials may be given or sent to Covington Friendship Circle Center, First Assembly of God, or the American Cancer Society with envelopes available at Shelby Funeral Home, who is handling the arrangements.
