Verl N. Cline, 97 of Covington died at 6:03 p. m. Monday September 16, 2013 at Presence United Samaritans Medical Center, Danville.
He was born June 24, 1916 near Coatesville, IN the son of Orlea and Lorena (Gross) Cline.
He graduated from high school and attended Danville Business College. He was a World War II Army veteran serving in Europe. He was a medical administrative assistant at Danville Veterans Administration Hospital 27 years, retiring 12/31/1973. He attended Indiana State University Securities Program and obtained his securities and brokers licenses. He was employed at Wm. Burnside & Co. many years, retiring in 2011.
He enjoyed all sports, was an avid Cubs fan, and had coached the Bums in Little League Baseball and Pony League Baseball.
Verl married Fern D. Stuebe November 23, 1943 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Danville. She survives with two daughters, Jane E. (Johnny) Parker of Safety Harbor, FL, and Judy A. Cline of Covington. His parents, a son James and a sister Jeanette Carroll preceded him in death.
Visitation will be 11:00 a. m until time of services at 1:00 p. m. Thursday September 19, 2013 at Shelby Funeral Home, Covington. Rev. Andy Martin will officiate. Burial with military honors by Veedersburg American Legion will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
