Thomas Wayne Parke, age 70, of Covington went to Heaven on July 22, 2014 following an illness with cancer this past year.
He was born in Crawfordsville, IN. September 29, 1943 the son of Richard W. and Margaret Peggy (Daniel) Parke. His father is deceased.
He leaves behind his Mother, three brothers, Richard Lee Parke, Steve Ray Parke, Timothy J. Parke, and one sister, Nancy Jo (Parke) Orr.
He graduated from Covington High School in 1961, and later attended Indiana State University for two years before entering the U S Air Force, where he served from 1967-1970. He was stationed in Turkey and Okinawa. He was a Morse Code specialist, working with the SR-71 reconnaissance jet plane.
Tom was an accomplished musician. He played the trumpet and other instruments. He won first place in every music contest in Indianapolis during his high school days. His Dad built a wall cabinet that was enclosed with a glass door to display his many first place medals and blue ribbons. It hung on the wall through the years. He loved gardening, raising tall flowering plants, and talk radio. He supported food for the poor.
Tom was a member of The First Baptist Church in Covington.
Friends may visit at the Shelby Funeral Home Saturday July 26, 2014, during the hours of 12:00 to 2:00 P. M. Funeral services will be at 2:00 P. M.
