Sylvia Mary Grubbs

Sylvia Mary Grubbs, 92, of Covington, died at 3:30 a. m. on Wednesday January 26, 2011 at The Waters of Covington. She was born on October 1, 1918 north of Covington to Roy and Mary (Bowers) Hunt. She was a 1937 graduate of Covington High School. Sylvia worked as a Secretary for Fountain County ASCS 20 years before retiring. She was a member of the Covington United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Tri Kappa, and Booklovers.

On June 18, 1939 she married Robert Phillip Grubbs at Attica, and he died September 1, 2010. Sylvia is survived by a daughter - Shirley (Allen) Lueking of Sullivan, IN; son - John (Mary Ellen) Grubbs of Covington, sister - Elizabeth Suiters of Indianapolis, 4 grandsons - Matthew (Meg) Moudy of Nashville, TN, Jeff Grubbs of West Lebanon, Mark Grubbs of Lafayette, Scott (Jessica) Grubbs of Covington, a granddaughter - Cynthia (Chris) Kan of Arlington, VA., and 7 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, a sister, and an infant granddaughter.

Visitation will be held 3:30 to 8:00 p. m. Friday at Shelby Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a. m. Saturday, January 28, 2011 at the Shelby Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Hoehner officiating. Burial will take place in Mount Hope Cemetery.
