Suellen Anne Switzer

Suellen Anne Switzer, 81, died Friday March 10, 2023 at the Waters of Covington, where she had resided for three years.  She was born August 15, 1941 in Chicago, IL the daughter of James and Margaret (Olsen) LaForest.

Suellen was a resident of Danville for more than fifty years, a graduate of Schlarman High School, and DAAC.  She was an LPN in the obstetrics department at St. Elizabeth Hospital for several years, then Dr. Ocha, and after receiving her RN, she was employed at DAAC and Illinois Department of Corrections.  She was very passionate about her career, being a nurse since she was twenty-one years old. She was the one to call when you had a medical question or just to ease your mind, and she always had the answer.

Suellen married Chester Dean Switzer and he died January 7, 2005.  Surviving are four children, Lisa (Robert) Hunt of Danville, IL; James Dean Switzer of Kingman, IN; Jessica Wagle of Danville, IL; and Jill Wolsgarth of New Baltimore, MI; seven grandchildren, Lyndsey (Javier) Alvarez, Tyler (Christina) Switzer, Jenna LaFave, Johnathon LaFave, Aaron Wolsgarth, Bailee Lawson, and Blake Bainum; four great grandchildren, Aria, Cameron, Zachery, and Rylen.

Also surviving are seven siblings, Lori Tucker, James (Debbie) LaForest, Mark (Beth) laForest, Debbie (Larry) DeBiancia, Beverly LaForest, and Michael (Michelle) LaForest, all of Mount Clemens, MI.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, a daughter Delores Switzer and a granddaughter Leslie Beauchamp.

Cremation was requested by her and there will be no services.  She will be buried in Spring Hill Cemetery, Danville. Shelby Funeral home is assisting the family.  Condolences to the family: www.shelbyfuneralhome.com
