Covington Shirley Anne Lyons, 80 died at 11:25 a. m. Friday August 3, 2012 at The Waters of Covington. She was born August 18, 1931 in Covington the daughter of Roy A. and Anna Nadine (Holycross) Holder.
Shirley was a life resident of Covington and a member of First Church of Christ. She graduated from Covington High School in 1949. She was a telephone operator for 14 years, a seamstress at Covington Manufacturing, 2-D in Veedersburg, later a clerk at Burrin Pharmacy.
She married James Melvin Lyons December 22, 1972 at Covington and he died October 13, 1984. Her parents, 3 sisters, Lois Cox, Jeane Holder, Joan ONeal, and a brother Bill Holder preceded her in death. Surviving is an adopted daughter Mary (Jerry) Shuman of Covington; an adopted granddaughter Meghan (Brad) Swinford of New Milford, CT; a niece Peggy (Clint) Karushis of Covington; a nephew Tony ONeal of Danville, IL; 3 brother-in-laws; a sister-in-law; several other nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 11:00 a. m. until time of services at 1:00 p. m. Monday August 6, 2012 at Shelby Funeral Home. Lewis Brock will officiate. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery. Condolences: www.shelbyfuneralhome.com
