Shawn Allen Sams, 36 of Covington, IN passed away at 8:14 a. m. Wednesday September 15, 2010 in San Antonio, TX.
Shawn was born September 15, 1974 in Danville, IL, the son of Robert Allen and Peggy (Weese) Sams of Covington. They both survive. Also surviving is his maternal grandmother, Jackie Case of Danville, IL, several aunts, uncles, cousins, special friends Matt and Leah Keele, and two special women, Cindy Sollars and Anna Foote, who all loved him. Shawn was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Hershel and Jenny Sams.
Shawn was a 1993 graduate of North Vermillion High School. He previously worked at the Covington IGA, Fountain County Sheriffs Department, and Covington Police Department. He was a member of the Glaziers local union #1165, working for Bacon & VanBuskirk.
Shawn was an avid Chicago Bears and Cubs fan, attending many games. He really enjoyed Matt Wednesday, getting together weekly with his lifelong friend Matt Keele. He enjoyed getting together with his buddies and watching Monday night football at his friend Tykes house. Shawn also enjoyed golfing and target shooting with his friends. Shawn was a good buddy, friend, and son.
Graveside services are 3:00 p. m. EDT Monday September 20, 2010 at Lower Mound Cemetery, Covington with Pastor Kevin Wildman officiating. The family requests memorials are made in Shawns name to Prairie Center Health Systems, 718 Killarney Street, Urbana, IL 61801. Shelby Funeral Home is arranging the services.
