Robert James Rowley, 85 of Danville passed away at 1:30 PM Tuesday Dec. 1, 2015, surrounded by his family at home. He was born August 10, 1930 at Danville to Percy and Flossie (Carpenter) Rowley. After serving in the U.S. Army, Robert married Betty Townsend February 23, 1952, in Danville, IL. she survives. Also surviving are five children, Terry (Joyce) Rowley of Danville, William James (Debra) Rowley of Indianapolis, Raymond (Melanie) Rowley of Danville, Robin (Michael) Breheny of Texas, Susie (Bob) Watson of Danville and a Brother William (Mary) Rowley of California, 16 Grandchildren, 21 Great-Grandchildren and a Great-Great-Grandchild. He was preceded by his parents, a Brother Donald Rowley and three Grandsons, Bryson Watson, Jimmy and Jaron Rowley.
He was an avid Cubs Fan, Bears Fan and a NASCAR Fan. Bob was also an outdoorsman. He was employed at the Hillary Yards as a Conductor and Brakeman for the New York Central and Conrail 33 years, retiring in 1986.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. (IL. Time) Friday December 4, 2015 at Shelby Funeral Home Covington, IN. with Chad Cooper officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be Noon to 2:00 P.M. (IL. Time) at Shelby Funeral Home.
