Robert Albert Butch Hendrickson, 69 of Veedersburg, IN died at 11:30 a. m. Thursday December 26, 2013 at home.
He retired from General Motors foundry in 1994 after 30 years of service. He resided in Veedersburg 30 years and formerly lived at Danville and Oakwood, IL. He served in the Air Force for 4 years as an air traffic controller in Japan.
He was born January 12, 1944 at Danville, IL the son of Russell Marion and Betty Mae (Elliot) Hendrickson.
Butch married Janice Niecy Moffitt August 31, 1968 at Danville, IL, who survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Jill (Troy) Finley of Veedersburg, IN; Lynn (Jared) Cox of Barnard, IN; and Molly (Jason) Gleason of Waveland, IN; 4 siblings, Margaret Tellier of Clearwater, FL; Russell (Vicki) Hendrickson of Covington, IN; John (Carolyn) Hendrickson and Nellie (Paul) Jeske, both of Danville, IL; and nine grandchildren, Tyler Finley, Tara Finley, Jesse (Kinlie Bowman) McElwee, Wyatt McElwee, Houston Finley, Anna Jordan, Avery Jordan, Izabel Cox, Adalyn Cox and Kiowa Simonton. His parents and a brother Michael preceded him in death.
Butch loved to camp, boat and fish with his friends and family at Raccoon Lake. He also loved to play his guitar and sing with his friends, Larry Chowning, J. D. Murphy, and Al Flint. Butch was an avid book reader and had read over 10,000 books.
Memorial services will be at 1:00 p. m. EST Tuesday December 31, 2013 at Shelby Funeral Home with Pastor Kenneth Jones officiating. Cremation rites have been accorded.
