Richard William Coonse, 68 of Crawfordsville died at 6:22 a. m. Wednesday September 25, 2013 at his home having been ill two months. He was born September 20, 1945 at Danville, IL the son of James William and Violet Ruth (High) Coonse.
He moved to Crawfordsville from Danville, IL in 1972 and was employed at Raybestos 30 years, retiring in 1996. Richard was a veteran of the U S Navy and the Army National Guard.
His memberships include: American Legion Post #72, VFW Post #1431, Wabash Club at Raybestos, and Sugar Creek Remote Control Club.
Richard married Charlene Wolfe April 22, 1973 at Danville, IL, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Julie (Michael) Davidson, and Rebecca Lynn Coonse, both of Crawfordsville; 2 sisters, Susie (James, Sr.) Watson and Paula Newby, both of Sidney, IL; a brother, Lloyd Coonse of Crawfordsville; 2 grandchildren, Ashlynn Nicole Earle, Cheyenne Leah Davidson; a great grandson Phoenix Glenn Earle. His parents, a baby brother James; a half- brother Fred Coonse preceded him in death.
Visitation will be 10:00 a. m. until time of services at Noon Saturday September 28, 2013 at Shelby Funeral Home, 622 Third Street, Covington. Rev. Larry Sharp will officiate. Interment will follow in Lower Mound Cemetery, Covington with military honors by the Navy and Veedersburg American Legion. Condolences to the family: www.shelbyfuneralhome.com.
