Ramona I. Strawser, 61 of Danville died at 2:45 p. m. Monday January 14, 2013 at St. Vincent Williamsport Hospital ER. She was born February 16, 1951 at Danville, IL the daughter of David E. and Jean (Maines) Abernathy.
Ramona attended Rabb School and graduated from Covington High School. She had been a resident of Danville since 1978 and a former resident of Galesburg, IL and Covington, IN. She was employed by KFC 20 years before retiring in 2008. Ramona enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren, playing bingo, Facebook, Rabb School Reunions, eating at Red Lobster with her brother Gary and sister-in-law Pam; her many conservations with her cousin Shirley and friend Fran; her dog Buddy.
Surviving are two daughters, Melissa (Bill) Roberts of Sheridan, IN and Brandi (Chris Spear) Moss of West Lebanon; two brothers, Gary (Pam) Abernathy and Jim (Connie) Abernathy, both of Veedersburg; four grandchildren, Ryan (Carithium) Strawser of Woodstock, GA; Rodney Guthrie and Private Drew Gutherie, both of Danville, Abrianna Spear of West Lebanon; 2 great grandchildren, Jade and Ryker. Her parents and a son Lance Corporal Rodney Lee Strawser preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be Friday January 18, 2013 at 10:00 a. m. EDT at Shelby Funeral Home, Covington with Paul Kent officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery, Danville. Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 p. m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials requested to Walther Cancer Foundation with envelopes available at the funeral home.
