Covington Mina I. Moore Witsman, 88 died at 10:45 a. m. Thursday June 7, 2012 at Colonial Manor, Danville. She was born September 13, 1923 to James and Corintha Ellen (Smith) Hale at Danville, IL.
She was a resident of Covington most of her life and a 1941 graduate of Covington High School. A line supervisor at GE in Danville for 25 years, she retired 6/3/1983. Mina belonged to Maranatha Baptist Church, Friendship Circle Center, Covington Quilters, and Vermilion Valley Quilters. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, and handwork.
Mina married Paul H. Moore July 21, 1942 at Attica. He died December 26, 1963. She married Donald Eugene Witsman January 21, 1967 at Covington. He died July 18, 2000.
Surviving are two sons, Paul A. (Jane) Moore of Covington, Richard A. (Jan) Moore of Perry, KS; a daughter, Kathy E. (Morris) Starkey of Danville, IL; a brother, James Hale of Crescent City, FL; 9 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren. A daughter, Bonnie Renteria; her parents, 3 brothers and a sister preceded her in death.
Visitation will be Noon until time of services at 2:00 p. m. Monday June 11, 2012 at Maranatha Baptist Church, 1111 Harrison Street, Covington directed by Shelby Funeral Home. Pastors Kenneth Jones and Mark Keyser will officiate. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery.
