Millard "Mutt" Allen

Millard “Mutt” Allen, 96, of the Stringtown area died at 2:24 A. M. Sunday October 29, 2017 at St Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis.  He was born in Stringtown December 15, 1920 the son of Zimmie and Anna Mae (Berto) Allen.

Mutt was a life resident of Stringtown and a farmer all of his life.  He also worked in the coal mines in his younger years.  He graduated from Perrysville High School in 1937.  Mutt enjoyed his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren, gardening, dancing, playing cards, horses and horse races.

Millard married Rosalie Rhoads October 4, 1940 at Waterloo, IA and she died January 23, 2014.  Surviving are three children, Deanna (Gary) Demes of Bloomington, IN, Dennis (Suzy) Allen of Covington, Dawn (William) Blake of Westfield, IN; seven grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.  His parents, and sister Millicent Hadley preceded him in death.

Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 P. M. EDT Friday at Shelby Funeral home, Covington.  Funeral services 11:00 A. M. EDT Saturday November 4, 2017 at Stringtown Church of God with Pastor Keith Klossner officiating.  Burial in Coal Creek Cemetery.  Memorials to Stringtown Church of God with envelopes available.  Condolences to the family: www.shelbyfunerlhome.com .
