Mary Marie Gayler, 90 of Covington died at 1:35 a. m. Sunday May 27, 2012 at The Waters of Covington. She was born January 21, 1922 at Covington the daughter of John William and Sylvia Elvira (Murray) Watts.
She was a homemaker, a life resident of Covington and a 1941 graduate of Covington High School. She attended Benson Chapel United Methodist Church, was a member of the Home Economics Club, Ladies Aid, VFW Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary. She was a staunch Republican and served on the precinct election board for many years.
Mary Marie married Charles Thomas Gayler May 6, 1944 at Fort Worth, TX; he died August 12, 1998. Surviving are three sons, Gale Allen Gayler, Hal Wayne (Colette) Gayler, and John Thomas (LuAnn) Gayler, all of Covington; a daughter Verlinda Gay (Vernon) Babb of Veedersburg; 12 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Her parents, a daughter and a brother preceded her in death.
Visitation will be 11:00 a. m. until the time of services at 1:00 p. m. Wednesday May 30, 2012 at Shelby Funeral Home. Pastor Tom Hunter will officiate and burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Condolences to the family: www.shelbyfuneralhome.com.
