Mary E. Cates-Palica, 73, of rural Attica died at 2:32 P. M. Saturday November 11, 2017 at St. Vincent Williamsport Hospital. She was born May 24, 1944 at Danville, IL the daughter of Harold Leon and Angela D. (Mackiewicz) Cates.
She was a graduate of Nazareth Academy, Lagrange, IL and Oak Park Nursing Academy. She was a nurse thirty years working at University of Illinois Ambulatory Care. She resided at Mokena, IL for many years and moved to Attica four years ago. She was a member of the Catholic Church. She enjoyed horses and was a member of American Saddle Horse Association.
Mary married John C. (Jack) Palica February 16, 1985 at Chicago and he survives. Also surviving is a daughter Carrie Sloboda (Bob Frerich). She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services 2:00 P. M. EDT Friday November 17, 2017 at Shelby Funeral Home, Covington with Father Samuel Futral officiating. Private burial in Resurrection Cemetery, Danville, IL.
