Marcia Burlene (Gouty) Jenkins

Marcia B. Jenkins, 76, of Covington, passed this life Saturday, August 3, 2024 at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, leaving behind a legacy cherished by many. What you do as a profession is a living, what you give back is a life. As a retired North Vermillion elementary school teacher, mentor, and 40 year 4-H volunteer, Marcia’s time on earth was a life well lived.

Marcia was born January 19, 1948, fourth child of Paul H. and Alma Louise Gouty. She was married to Kenneth W. Jenkins July 1, 1972 until his passing in October, 2004.

Survivors include daughters, Kami (Preston) Jackson of Danville, Il, and Kendi Jenkins of Covington, IN, granddaughters, Kelly McCoy of Georgetown, Il, Katie and Kloe McCoy of Danville, Il., great-grandchildren, Navar Lopez and Emilia LeGrand of Danville, Il. Along with sisters-in-law, Charlotte Gouty and Karen Gouty, brother-in-law Ron Woods, and several nieces and nephews.

Marcia was preceded by her husband, parents, brothers, Alva Gouty, Mike Gouty and sister, Sheryl Woods.

She enjoyed spending time with her family and cherished time with her grand and great grandchildren the most. Marcia was always up for traveling, sharing crafts, and devoted many hours to promoting 4-H, especially the Rabbit project program in Vermillion County.

Memorial visitation to honor Marcia’s devotion to her community will be held Monday August 12, 2024 4-7 p.m. EST at the 4-H Community Building, Cayuga, IN park. Prior to the memorial visitation, a graveside service will be held August 12, 2024 at 11:00 am EST at Hopewell Cemetery, Rileysburg, IN with Pastor Bob Fairchild of First Assembly of God, Covington, IN. officiating. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations for the 4-H rabbit program may be made in Marcia’s name to Vermillion County 4-H, 703 W. Park St., Cayuga, IN 47928
