Leland Mathias Squeak Witsman, 92 died at 7:35 p. m. Tuesday November 29, 2011 at VA Illiana Health Care System, Danville. He was born January 27, 1919 at Cates, IN the son of Hugh and Bessie (Huffman) Witsman.
Squeak was a life resident of Fountain County and a graduate of Kingman High School. Leland was an Army veteran of World War II. Leland married Mary Graham in England. She is deceased. He was an aviation mechanic for many years and also was a superintendent on bridge construction. He enjoyed flying his own plane, hunting, and fishing. Lelands memberships included: Kingman American Legion, Aircraft Owners & Pilots Association, United Brotherhood of Carpenters Local 859, and National Rifle Association.
Surviving are a brother Wendell (Eloise) Witsman of Rushville; a sister Katha (Wayne) Majors of Veedersburg; nine nieces and a nephew. His parents, 5 brothers, and 2 sisters preceded him in death.
Visitation will be 11:00 a. m. until services at 1:00 p. m. Saturday December 3, 2011 at Shelby Funeral Home. Ray Nasser will officiate and burial will follow in Kingman Fraternal Cemetery with military rites by Kingman American Legion.
