LaDoris Smith, 94 of Covington died at 11:00 a. m. Wednesday January 4, 2012 at home. She was born at Foster, IN February 3, 1917 the daughter of Frederick and Myrtle (Gaskin) Ricketts.
She was a life resident of Covington and a graduate of Covington High School in 1935 and Utterback Brown Business College. She was court reporter for Judge Fenters, former Fountain County Recorder, then a secretary at V A Hospital, Danville, retiring in 1986.
She was a member of Benson Chapel United Methodist Church, VFW Auxiliary and had been active in the Republican Party.
LaDoris married Charles Emerson Smith May 9, 1942 and he died June 17, 1963. Surviving are two daughters, Diana Gray of Covington and Helena (Fred) Fladd of Frankfort, 6 grandchildren, Kathy (Charlie Richardson) Burke, Teresa (Joe) Osborn, Kelli (Chris) Pinkerton, Kandy (Marc) Robinson, Aaron (Nikki) Richardson, Kristy (Kyle Holland) Wombles; 15 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. Her parents and 3 sisters, a son-in-law, and 2 great grandchildren preceded her in death.
Visitation will be 10:00 a. m. until time of funeral services at 12:00 p. m. Saturday January 7, 2012 at Benson Chapel United Methodist Church. Rev. Brenda Burnworth will officiate. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery.
