Joseph Chiaffredo, Jr.

Joseph Chiaffredo, Jr., 89 of Evansville, a former resident of Covington died at 8:00 p. m. Tuesday February 7, 2012 at home. He was born December 14, 1922 at South Standard, IL the son of Joseph and Ruth (Vitalie) Chiaffredo.
Joe attended Westville Schools and served in the Army in World War II earning a Bronze Star. After his discharge he was employed at Sunbeam in Chicago, a carpenter for Art Fleming, Bohn Aluminum, and Certified Concrete 25 years before retiring in 1985. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Danville and served several years on the Piankashaw Boy Scout Council. He lived north of Foster for many years and moved to Evansville to live with his son in 2008.
Joe married Mary Ellen Day May 17, 1952 at Danville, IL and she died April 25, 2003. Surviving is a son Greg (Donna) Chiaffredo of Evansville; a sister Rosemary Malone of Jacksonville, FL; a brother John (Pam) Chiaffredo of San Antonio, TX; 3 granddaughters, Kaitlyn, Meghan, and Cassidy. His parents, brother, son and grandson preceded him in death.
Visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 p. m. EST Friday February 10, 2012 at Shelby Funeral Home. Graveside services at 11:00 a. m. EST Saturday February 11, 2012 in Resurrection Cemetery, Danville.
