John Harvey Ritter, 72 of Danville, passed away on Friday January 17, 2020, in Liberty House at the VA Illiana Health Care of Danville. He was born January 27, 1947 in Danville, IL. to Ernest H. and Elsie Mae (Cox) Ritter. A life resident of Danville, John was a graduate of Danville High School and an Army Veteran of the Vietnam War. He had been employed at G.M. Central Foundry in the Core Room for 15 years. John was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans. John’s love for money was evident in his continual buying and selling of antiques, coins, jewelry and automobiles. He loved going to Casinos and pampering his dogs, Lacy, Jackson and Snowball. The greatest love of his life was his Mother. John left behind his good friends; Bob & Susie Watson, Holly True, Tom & Jean Heath and Justin Taylor. Also, two children he considered to be his own Grandchildren; Braxton and Noah Taylor. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Patricia. The family would like to thank John’s caregivers at Liberty House for the exceptional care they provided for him.
Visitation will be Saturday January 25, 2020 from 2:00 to 3:00 P.M. EST in Shelby Funeral Home of Covington, IN. The Funeral will follow at 3:00 P.M. at the funeral home with Pastor Jay Sorrell officiating. Burial will be at Songer Cemetery with Military Graveside Rites by American Legion Post 210 of Danville, IL. John’s favorite quote was ….That’s All Folks!....
