Jeffrey Lynn Allison

August 11, 1942 — June 24, 2013

Jeffrey Lynn Allison, 70 of Covington died at 7:16 p. m. Monday June 24, 2013 at Presence USMC, Danville following a long illness. He was born August 11, 1942 at Danville, IL the son of the late Lester Karl and Anna Marie (Kenny) Allison.

He graduated from Covington High School in 1960 and served in the Navy. Jeff was a life resident of Covington where he operated Allisons Service Station 25 years, drove a school bus 25 years, and was a member of Covington Volunteer Fire Department for many years. Later he was employed at NAPA for 15 years, where he loved his job and said he wanted to work until he was 90.

His memberships include: First Baptist Church, Fountain Lodge #60 F. & A. M, Terre Haute Scottish Rite, Zorah Shrine, and Western Indiana Shrine Club.

Jeff married Sue Brasker June 28, 1964 at Covington First Baptist Church and she survives. Also surviving is a brother Joe (Cindy) Allison of Cypress, CA; 2 nieces, Tiffany (George) Wood, and Summer (Ryan) Johnson; a nephew, Tyler (Melissa) Allison; 2 great nieces, Sierra and Teagan Allison; 2 great nephews, Reese Wood and Dane Johnson. He is survived by 4 sisters-in-law, Alice Payne, Margaret (Bob) Summers, Donna (Jerry) Hale, and Debbie Crawford; a brother-in-law Merrille Brasker; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 p. m. Friday at First Baptist Church with funeral services there at 11:00 a. m. Saturday June 29, 2013. Pastors Andy Harkleroad and Warren Allen will officiate. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Memorials requested to First Baptist Church or Covington Community Foundation with envelopes available from Shelby Funeral Home.
