James Christopher Allen Micklus

d. May 23, 2022

James “Jim” Christopher Allen Micklus, 52, passed away peacefully at his home in Veedersburg, Indiana on Monday, May 23, 2022, after a courageous two- year battle with pancreatic cancer. Jim was born in Danville, Illinois in 1970 the son of Albert Lee and Patricia Lou (Howard) Micklus.  He would go on to spend the first 8 years of his life on a farm near Snoddy’s Mill in Wabash Township, Fountain County, Indiana. As a young man, Jim traveled the United States and Mexico extensively with his father, eventually settling in San Diego, CA, where he graduated from Hoover High School in 1989. After many years of hard work in construction, and numerous trials and tribulations, Jim found his way back to his roots in the Midwest.

Never one much for book learning besides the King James Bible, Jim excelled at working with his hands. He could build or fix almost anything and was both artistically and musically inclined as well, even going so far as teaching himself to play the piano in less than a year. Jim spent the last eight years of his life building his own business as a landscaper and handyman, which allowed him the privilege to work outdoors and provided the opportunity of homeschooling his youngest daughter.

Jim was a man of great faith and his love for his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, was rivaled only by his love for his family and friends, and fishing of any kind. He fully believed in the Bible directive to support widows and orphans and enjoyed providing for the older women and local children in his community whenever and however he could.  Jim will be remembered for his big heart, faith, his sense of humor and his unending desire to help others find their salvation in Christ. Jim was greatly loved by his family and will be sorely missed by all those who were blessed to know him.

Jim is survived by his loving wife Amy Post, 52, son Emmanuel Jacob, 25, daughter Elizabeth Adriana, 23, daughter Ava Lynn, 13, granddaughter Eva Viriana Saenz-Micklus, 7, older brothers Albert Lee, Jr., 63, Michel Jacob, 62, Robert Charles, 61, and Forrest Wayne, 55, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, as well as honorary daughters Emma Lou Wesley, 16, and Casia Ann Fruits, 13. Jim was preceded in death by his father Albert Lee Micklus Sr., and mother Patricia Lou Howard.

Per Jim’s and his family’s wishes, private services will be held. Donations can be made in Jim’s name to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network at Pancan.org or to the Wheeler Mission at Wheelermission.org.  Shelby Funeral Home is assisting the family.  Condolences to the family: www.shelbyfuneralhome.com .
