Jack Hollis Boyle, 81 of Covington, Indiana died at 7:10 a. m. Thursday December 16, 2010 at The Lane House, Crawfordsville where he resided since September 2008.
He was born May 28, 1929 at Malvern, Arkansas to Ray & Irene (Smith) Boyle, the third of five children. In high school Jack worked at the Malvern Acme Brick Company. After high school, he attended Coyne Electrical School in Chicago, Illinois. He was a buck Sergeant during the Korean War from 1948 to 1952. While on base he worked as an electrician and pay clerk.
Jack married Nancy K. Lund March 21, 1976 in Wilmington, IL. Jack is survived by his wife, his daughter, Catherine (Harold) Cales, and granddaughter, Emma Kristine Cales, all of Covington.
He graduated from St. Louis College of Pharmacy in 1954. In the 1980s he and Nancy owned the Covington Pharmacy. He retired from the profession of pharmacy after 50 years. He continued to work as Fountain County Deputy Coroner from 1992-1996, and as Fountain County Coroner from 1996-2000.
Jack was an active member of the Covington United Methodist Church and loved to sing in the choir. Until 2009, his interests remained with the American Legion Post #288, Veedersburg and the Friendship Circle Center of Covington. Jack enjoyed dancing and volunteering in the community with his wife.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday January 8, 2011 at 11:00 a. m. EST at West Liberty Church of Christ, 2806 W SR 32, Covington. His family requests donations in Jacks memory are sent to the Friendship Circle Center, 1307 Pearl Street, Covington, IN 47932. Envelopes are available at Shelby Funeral Home.
