Esther Mae Hurley, 97 of Covington died at 1:40 p. m. Saturday February 15, 2014 at The Waters of Covington.
She was born March 16, 1916 at State Line, IN the daughter of Berkley and Mable (Davis) Woodrum. Esther married Clarence G. Hurley June 20, 1937 and he died May 25, 1993.
Surviving are 2 children, Anita E. (Butch) Owen of Rockville, Rev. Curtis N. (Laura) Hurley of Connersville, 3 grandchildren, 2 great granddaughters, a great-great grandson, and several nieces and nephews. Her parents, 6 brothers and 4 sisters preceded her in death.
Esther moved to Covington from Marshfield in 1931. She was an active member of Covington United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and the Win One Class. Her other memberships include Wabash Troy Home Extension Club, Vermilion County Audubon Society, Executive Committee of Lebanon Childrens Home Auxiliary. She was playground supervisor at Covington Elementary School 12 years.
Visitation will be 4:00 to 6:00 p. m. Monday February 17, 2014 at Shelby Funeral Home and 1 hour before services at the church. Funeral services will be 11:00 a. m. Tuesday February 18, 2014 at Covington United Methodist Church with Rev. Andy Martin officiating. Interment will be in Centennial Cemetery, Kingman.
