Eileen A. Hawkins

Eileen A. Hawkins, 93, of Covington, IN passed away Thursday, March 27, 2025 at home. She was born June 1, 1931 in Fort Wayne, IN to the late Cyrus and Clella Hay. Eileen graduated from Danville High School in Danville, IL. She married her sailor boy, Jack Hawkins, March 26, 1951 and spent nearly 70 years together before his passing June 18, 2020. Jack and Eileen were members of Muncie Baptist Church, Muncie IL. They were very active at church, helping to found the annual Live Nativity. Jack used his carpentry skills to build the main structure and they both served as live characters for several years. They were known for their deep faith in God and showed their love for Him in service to others. Eileen was a loving wife and homemaker. She worked along side her handyman husband building five of their homes over the years. She dedicated her life to caring for her family and gifted them with her love for nature. Her hobbies included gardening, reading, crossword puzzles, sewing, crocheting, and feeding birds. Many happy memories were made at their table playing games and sharing love and laughter with their family and friends. In adddition to her parents and husband, Eileen was proceded in death by her brothers John and Delbert Hay, son Douglas Hawkins, son-in-law Allyn Crouse, her mother-in-law, two brother-in-laws, and one sister-in-law. Eileen is survived by her daughters Lynn (Gary) Brauninger, Donna Crouse, grandchildren Ryan Hawkins, Rebecca (Christopher) Williams, Amy (Bryan) Castle, Brenda (Kevin) Heskett, six great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. As Jack passed during the pandemic, a celebration of their life will be held Saturday, April 5, 2025 with visitation from 4:00-5:00 PM EST and memorial service at 5:00 PM EST at the funeral home with Pastor Todd Creason officiating. Memorial contributions can be made in their name to Muncie Baptist Church, 205 N Main St. Muncie, IL 61844.
