Deward E. Bud Jones, 89 of Danville died at 5:37 p. m. Saturday February 2, 2013 at Presence USMC, Danville. He was born April 18, 1923 at Veedersburg, IN the son of Russell and Lola E. (Whitaker) Jones.
Bud graduated from Veedersburg High School and served in the Marine Corps 1940 to 1945 spending three years in the Pacific Theatre. He was a conductor on the C & E I Railroad for 21 years before retiring. He was a member of the Baptist Church in Reno. Bud moved to Reno, NV after retiring and returned to Danville in October.
Deward married Betty C. Trosper October 28, 1960 and she survives. Also surviving are 7 children, Susanne (Kenneth) Ure of Danville, IL; Debra (David) Harpenau of Farmer City, IL; Pam (Garth) Gardner of Colorado; Douglas Miller of Luning NV; Julie (Randy) Draper of Georgetown, IL; Randy (Jill) Dulgar and Dennis (April) Stewart Both of Newton, IL; special grandchildren, Brittney and Jeremy Ure, Brandon Curtis, Misty Firebaugh, several other grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren. His parents, a brother and 3 sons preceded him in death.
Visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 p. m. EST Friday at Shelby Funeral Home, Covington. Funeral services will be Saturday February 9, 2013 at 2:00 p. m. with Joe Humerichous officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery with military honors by Veedersburg American Legion and the Marine Corps League.
