David L. Spicer, 81 of Covington died at 1:00 a. m. Saturday March 23, 2013 at Presence USMC, Danville. He was born May 29, 1931 at Georgetown, IL the son of Lloyd Raymond and Ruth (Bush) Spicer.
He attended Georgetown Schools and was a Marine veteran. He was employed at Lauhoff Grain 35 years before retiring and farmed all of his life. He was a member of Covington Nazarene Church. He moved to Covington in 1962 from Vermilion Grove, IL.
David married Edna G. Howard May 16, 1952 at Kinston, NC and she survives. Also surviving is a son Timothy (LaDonna) Spicer of Covington; three grandchildren; a great grandson; 3 sisters, Eleanor (Dan) Smith of Williamsport; Patsy Cherney of Covington; Sally (John) Gallez of Westville, IL; 4 brothers, Danny (Darlene) Spicer of Indianapolis; Ronald (Darlene) Spicer of Wabash, IN; Karrell (Donna) Spicer of New Baden, IL; Lloyd R. Spicer of Danville, IL. His parents and a sister Shirley Holford preceded him in death.
Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 p. m. Wednesday at Covington Nazarene Church, with services there at 11:00 a. m. Thursday March 28, 2013 with Pastor Richard Stadler officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery with military honors by American Legion Post #288 and the VFW. Shelby Funeral Home is assisting the family.
