David King Hayden, 72 of Covington died Sunday December 18, 2011 at home. He was born August 4, 1939 in Covington the son of Ivan Lee and Mabel (Burgett) Hayden.
He attended Covington Schools and was a life resident of Covington. David was a member of First Church of Christ. He enjoyed his family, grandchildren, hunting, fishing and hunting mushrooms. He was an Army veteran. He was employed at G M Central Foundry 25 years, retiring in 1993. After retiring he repaired lawn mowers and was known as the lawnmower man.
David married Deloris Vyse January 21, 1967, she survives. Also surviving are a daughter Jodie (Kenneth) Collins of Williamsport; a son David Clark (Rebecca) Hayden of Perrysville; 3 sisters, Joyce Craw of Champaign, Patricia Marks and Delores Elliott, a brother Walter Bob (Wanda) Hayden, all of Covington; 4 grandchildren, Rhonda, Amanda,& Billy Million, Aisha Hayden, and expecting a grandson Roland Hayden; many nieces and nephews. His parents, 2 brothers and 2 sisters preceded him in death.
Visitation will be 5:00 p. m. until time of services at 7:00 p. m. Wednesday December21, 2011 at Shelby Funeral Home. Pastor Bill Cook will officiate and military services will follow.
