Darrell A. Duke Vyse, Jr., 77 of Covington died suddenly Thursday December 19, 2013 at St. Vincent Williamsport Hospital.
Duke was born October 11, 1936 in Covington the son of Darrell A. Bill and Everel (Clark) Vyse.
He was a life resident of Covington and attended Covington Schools. He was an Army veteran. He was a painter all of his life. He was a custodian for many years for Covington Methodist Church, Fountain County Court House, and BWI Bank. He enjoyed drawing and art.
He was proud of the labor he did in restoring Hendrix or Mud Creek Cemetery where his ancestors are buried.
Duke married Shirley M. Ferguson July 25, 1964 at Veedersburg and she survives. Also surviving are a brother Donald Vyse and three sisters, Darene Jones, Dorothy (Harold) McBride, and Delores Hayden, all of Covington. His parents and a brother David preceded him in death.
Visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 p. m. EDT Sunday at Shelby Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Monday December 23, 2013 at 11:00 a. m EDT at Shelby Funeral Home with Pastor Robert Fairchild officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Condolences to the family: www.shelbyfuneralhome.com.
