Charles William Chuck Spiering, 67, of Covington died at 11:50 P. M. Sunday August 16, 2015 at Illiana VA Health Care System Danville, IL. Chuck was born June 27, 1948 at Danville, IL the son of the late Henry E. and Mary Louise (Kinney) Spiering.
Chuck was a life resident of the Covington area, graduating from Covington High School in 1966. He was employed at Olin for several years. He was an Army medic in Vietnam two years, receiving the Purple Heart and Silver Star. He loved to work on the farm, hunting, fishing and the outdoors. He was a member of Cates Community Church. Chucks life passion was God, family and country.
Chuck married the love of his life Brenda Gushurst Myers September 1, 1995 at Covington and she survives. Also surviving are three stepsons, William B. J. (Mandy) Myers of Landrum SC; Aaron (Snezhana) Myers of Kirkland AFB, NM; Daniel (Andrea) Myers of Yuba City, CA; three brothers, Robert, Ronald, and Wayne (Jo Lynn) Spiering , all of Covington; a sister Connie (Marty) Lenfesty of Danville, IL; four grandchildren, Clara Faith, Elisha, Jacob, and Gideon; father-in-law, Frank Gushurst; sister-in-laws, Barb (John) Manike; Karen Gushurst, several special nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A. M. Monday August 24, 2015 at Shelby Funeral Home with Pastor Bud Stidham officiating. Burial will be in Lower Mound Cemetery with military honors by the Army and Walter Forrest Post # 288 American Legion. Visitation will be 3:00 to 6:00 P. M. Sunday at the funeral home.
