Calvin Eugene Shively, 89 of Covington died at 6:30 a. m. Friday June 6, 2014 at Illiana V A Health Care System, Danville.
He was born August 20, 1924 at Indianola, IL the son of Sherman R. and Frances (Burnworth) Shively.
Calvin graduated from Sidell High School and was a World War II Army paratrooper. He farmed all of his life and was employed 28 years at GM Central Foundry before retiring in 1991. He enjoyed farming and was a member of Maranatha Baptist Church, Covington.
Calvin married Charlotte Belle Randolph June 11, 1949 at Lafayette and she died June 22, 2010. Surviving is a daughter Linda (Karl) Krabbe of Danville; two sons, John Shively of Covington and Joe Shively of Perrysville; a sister Mary (Ervin) Seyfert of Tilton; 5 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren. His parents and a brother preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p. m. EDT Monday June 9, 2014 at Shelby Funeral Home with Pastor J. Briggs King officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery with military honors by Veedersburg American Legion Post #288. Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 p. m. Sunday at Shelby Funeral Home.
