Covington Clarice Pauline Walters Brakley Ward, 89 of Covington passed away at Hickory Creek Nursing Home in Crawfordsville on November 30, 2010.
Pauline was born June 2, 1921 in Fairmount, IL the daughter of Robert and Ruth Bradley Walters. She graduated from Covington High School in 1939.
She married Caleb Brakley June 17, 1939 in Covington. He preceded her in death March 16, 1981. She married Earl C. Ward Oct. 27, 1990 and he preceded her in death Nov. 2, 2010.
Pauline had worked for the Covington Post Office, City of Covington, Covington Public Library and First Church of Christ.
She was a member of First Church of Christ in Covington. Pauline was an avid bowler and enjoyed music, playing cards, and games. She was the glue that brought classmates together every year for the Class of 39s alumni activities. Most of all she enjoyed supporting her children and grandchildren in all their activities.
Surviving is a son, Charles Chuck Robert Brakley (Mary) of Covington; two daughters, Sharon Caline Barber (Frank) of Covington and Ruth Ann Crowder (Phil) of Attica; two step-daughters, Stephanie Kapolnek of Elk Grove Village, IL. and Debbie McClarence (George) of New Lenox, IL. A step-daughter, Christine Tirado (Terry) of Scroggins, Texas preceded her in death. Also surviving are 5 grandsons, David Barber (Paula) of Hillsboro, Douglas Barber (Tanya) of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Kyle Crowder (Denise) of Attica, Kent Crowder (Debbie) of Attica, Kevin Crowder (Shelly Herndon) of Attica, one step grandson, Kyle Wilson (Beth) of Evansville, and one granddaughter Jalyn Bowen of Veedersburg. Also surviving are 12 great grandchildren; McKayla, McKenzie, Holden, Kathryn and Morgan Barber; Ashley, Garrett, Tyler, and Caleb Crowder, Edan and Judah Wilson, and Kayla Duane.
Burial will be in Bonebrake Cemetery, Veedersburg.
Please join the family Saturday December 4, 2010 at 1:00 p. m. for a celebration of Paulines life at the First Church of Christ, 615 Fifth Street, Covington. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a. m. to 1:00 p. m. Memorial donations may be made to the Covington Community Foundation, the Fountain County 4-H Council or First Church of Christ.
